Main Working Area

The main working area allows to select which device or applications to configuration and then actually configure the device or application. This area allows allows you to view log files. A screen grab of the main working area for a Plunger Lift application is shown below.

Main Working Area

The tabs across the bottom to allow you to select what the main working area shows. Choose the 'Synchronize' tab to see device level logs and connect to a remote device. Choose the device level tab, in this case named 'SP470i', to configure settings at the device level. Choose application specific tabs to configure applications and retrieve and view logs. Application tabs are only visible when the corresponding application item is checked in the tree view.

Once a device or application tab is selected, groups appear on the left side. Selecting a group shows parameters for that group. Columns in this view show the value, units, and options for all parameters in the group. The value in the 'Required' column and depends on the current configuration of the application. This is a hint that the value should be configured or can be ignored. In the screen grab above, the 'Plunger Arrival Tag Name' is not required to be configured because the value of the 'Plunger Exists' parameter in the 'Plunger Configuration' group is false.

'Plunger Arrival Tag Name' Configuration Hint

Groups can either be configuration groups, control groups or status groups. Configuration groups hold configuration parameters. These values can be changed when offline and dictate how the application behaves. Control groups hold control parameters. When offline, only the units and options for these parameters can be changed. Status groups hold status parameters that are outputs from the application. When offline, only the units and options for these parameters can be changed. See the 'Devices and Applications' section for more details on parameter types and options.

Selecting a parameter opens details on the right that allow you to change the parameter value, select units, and select parameter options, like whether the parameter should be synchronized with the PLC or published via MQTT.  When a configuration or control parameter is synchronized with the PLC, the value of that parameter can be changed at runtime via the PLC. Note that only the value can be changed at runtime. Units and options cannot be changed at runtime and must be changed offline.
When a configuration or control parameter is synchronized with the PLC, the value of that parameter can be changed at runtime via the PLC.  Only parameter values can be changed at runtime. Units and options cannot be changed at runtime.

Use the buttons below the list of parameters to change options for all parameters in the group. Use the arrow on the right side of the button to change which option is toggled.
